Captain Report August

Castlecove hosted the last competition day and lunch for the Bronze IV Pennant teams and as usual it was most successful thank you to a number of people.

Susie arrived early with morning tea and a welcome for the visiting teams as did Millie. Ellie arrived to help with the cards and greetings. Millie brought some wonderful cakes and Margaret Jacobs, Anne Benjafield, Carolyn Isaacs, Pauline Barass endured some really shockingly cold windy weather to go out and spot. Suzie had organised a great raffle basket and Carol Jones sold tickets to the tune of $149.50

Many thanks to Kate, Tom and the staff for putting on a super lunch it was a very good day. Although we didn’t have a team we all enjoyed congratulating Long Reef on a very narrow win over Cammeray and Bayview.

The third round of the club finals are now completed.

Congratulations Suzie Canham/Margaret Jacobs over Angela Smith/Janet King

Congratulations Kerri Morris/Rhonda Hamilton over Helen Muscat/Margaret Eslake. The 4BBB finals will be Suzie/Margaret v Kerrie/Rhonda.

The second round of the 9 hole finals will be Pauline/Judy v Therese/Noreen

Good luck to all the teams playing in the finals.

The Nora Walters Trophy and the Saturday Medal was won by Rhonda Hamilton and the weekday Medal was won by Millie Lullic.

If you have a Trophy from last year could you please return it now. As I am going to be away in November I need to start organising the trophies for engraving.

Our Away Day at Palm Beach is coming up on the 13th September. This is always a great day out and we look forward to as many members as possible attending.

Up coming events:

I’m sure you will have seen the news from the Proshop re Thursday 18 hole and 9 hole comps. These will now be Medley competitions. That is, open to both male and female members. The 18 hole comp will tee off between 8am-9am and the 9 hole comp will follow from 9am-9.30am. This will commence on Thursday 5th September. This is really good news for those ladies who like to play 18 holes on a Thursday but there is often not enough for a comp. Being a medley will increase the numbers and give both men and women golfers another option.

9 Hole ladies, you will still play with the ladies as you have been but your numbers may also swell with the addition of male members.
